Psychological research on the characteristics of healthy families has given us new and valuable information about what contributes to psychological health in a family system. Dr. Peterson applies an integrative approach based on family systems research, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and hypnotic technique to resolve individual and couples issues. She is the author of several books, including An Easier Childbirth and Making Healthy Families. Her articles on family relationships appear in professional journals and she is an oft-quoted expert in popular magazines such as Woman's Day, Reader's Digest, Family Circle, and Parenting.

Gayle Peterson received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Indiana at Bloomington and holds a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She is licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in the state of California and attended the graduate psychology program at California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco 1986-1987, completing her PhD in Family Psychology at Columbia Pacific University in 1990.  Her research dissertation subject Body-Centered Hypnosis for Childbirth resulted in a training DVD, a continuing education course for professionals and the book, An Easier Childbirth.  Dr. Gayle Peterson is a Diplomate in Social Work with the National Association of Social Work. She has taught and trained professionals throughout the United States and Canada.
